This mental illness usually manifests itself with psychotic mood swings, paranoia, hallucinacions, delusions and other pyschotic symtpoms. Treatment is possible using medication – many patients can control themselves, however it’s best to make sure they administer their medication, as when in the “manic” phase they will often feel optimisitc enough to think they don’t need it anymore and to not take it.
The effect of the medication is removing the moodswings completely – stabilizing the patient on a normal level.
